Topic: Howdy from Atlanta

I should get my SD4 tomorrow. I've been playing with Sketchup and reading here for a couple of weeks, signed up today and have a couple of questions.

- is sketchup the tool of choice for a first-time modeler? I am having issues creating solids even from the most basic shapes (i.e. I draw a circle and push up to make a cylinder, and it's not solid even though it's a fully enclosed object? WTH?)

- is there a thread here that covers the things you *must* do as soon as you get your printer? I assume there are setup instructions, but I've read enough to know that there are things not necessarily covered.

Thanks!

Welcome,
Just keep reading...look at the WIKI and consider getting some glass and Aqua-net for the bed if your printing with ABS.  Then it's calibration, calibration and more... You guessed it, calibration.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End

Thanks to all for your contributions

Also, EXPECT to get frustrated for at least the first week...That way, you might not throw the printer through the window the first night...

Re: Howdy from Atlanta

Lol.. Delivered this afternoon. Set up, calibrated, bed leveled (paper method), and first print underway..

I have video but haven't posted enough to share here yet.

Note the front perimeter thing didn't stick, but the part looks good. I'll re-check the bed when it's done, but, if anything, the front was a tad tighter than the back. Whatever..

All done, and a solid part. The initial squish looks a bit too much, but otherwise it's quite good.

The thing shakes like crazy when it goes to home. I've reset home several times but it still does it. The Y carriage was *way* out of alignment when it arrived, I had to physically twist it to get it right. Wondering what I can do to ensure everything is set correctly..
