Topic: Sketchup no longer exports stl

Like the title says.
I have been working on a simple modification and when it came time to convert it to stl, it saves the file blank. Hovering the cursor over the file in its destination, the icon is white and simply is designated as "file", but not what type.

I updated Sketchup 8 and am still having the same issue. Has anyone else had this happen??
Google turned up nothing but the plugin I installed successfully last year. hmm

Forgot to mention...I drew a simple solid cube to see if it was just the original design, and even the basic shape did not export.

I have about 15 minutes send me the .skp via regular email if you need a quick conversion.  I couldn't explain what's wrong with your exporter.

I have the stl export plugin which used to work perfectly on Sketchup 8, but found I do not have it on Sketchup 2013. Shouldn't it still be useable?
And yes...I understand having two versions of the same software isn't a good idea smile

Why not I have two versions... I still like 8 the best but that is just a lack of time to really use 14.
I am guessing your importer is in the wrong folder and I can tell you one thing for certain.  I am not the guy that can help you out with this wink  Mine has just always worked.... (knocks hand on wood)

Knock that wood HARD, buddy! big_smile Mine always worked and for some reason it just plain stopped working.
The stl export feature isn't even an option in 2014, so I guess I'll try that tomorrow.

The "multiple versions of software" comment I made was from my experience in audio engineering.  I have seen problems similar to this with Cubase and Pro Tools as well as the horror stories thereof.
I will post back once I have results.

Crisis averted!
The plugin for the stl export was nowhere to be found. I simply reinstalled the file into both Sketchup 8 as well as 2013 and now it exports once again.
