Topic: Sell: Solidoodle 2 replacement silicon heat pad? [ closed ]

I'm looking into getting a silicone heatpad created for my SD2 buildplate as the ones sold by solidoodle... suck. 2 months in and mine is 3.4Ohm and taking forever to heat up to the needed 110C.

The heatpad will be a full 150mm with holes for the mounting screws.  I'm ordering these through alibaba and plan on selling them via ebay once completed (and tested working on my SD2 unit)

Would anyone be interested? Trying to get an estimate on how many I should purchase.

I attached my drawing I provided to the alibaba vendor in China.

Will this be flat?  Where is the placement of the temp sensor?  Reason I ask, is I have a silicon pad and you have to notch your platform to allow the wires to lie flat. Or use Lawsy's design to overcome it.

If you figure out a way that no modification is need to bed platform, then you will have something and I would be in for one.  Might consider PCB style also.  And heck if your going to do it for SD2 might as well do it for SD3/SD4.

SD2 and SD4 same size beds. but also other size beds out by others. 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 then some odd sizes but they have own heaters. mostly 6x6 and 8x8 for SD

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

SD2 is not the same size as SD4.
SD2 = 6x6
SD3/SD4 = 8x8

Well, I got my first quote for a custom cut heater.  Not exactly what I expected.  They keep pushing their "3d printer" heating pads (attached image and quote)

I think I need to shop around some more :-) The price is a little up there.  Maybe going with something smaller than the full 150mm that would fit in-between the mounting posts on the SD2.

There are a lot of options out there for the SD3/SD4 and its larger 8x8 bed... so I have little interest in making this for anything but the SD2 (which has an extremely limited number of replacement options given the 6x6 bed)

The last item on that quote list makes the most economical sense (although, jeeze it is a lot of money up front)
Wonder if I could sell 50 of the heaters for the SD2 at $15 each.

Although, given the high price point, the lawsy solution looks a *lot* nicer using a generic heater.

Decided to go with the Lawsy solution of printing a bed and placing the glass directly on the heater.    Do wish someone would produce a fitting 6" heating pad for the SD2 platform though.
