Topic: Using Cubify Invent Software with Solidoodle

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and hoping that someone has this info.  I want to use Cubify Invent 3D CAD modeling software to design.  While waiting for my Solidoodle printer (which should be here in January 2013) I have designed some cool things in Invent.  I really like it for the money (altough it's very limited compared to Solidworks 3D CAD).

I was wondering whether anyone on this forum has successfully used Invent to export an STL file and then print on a Solidoodle?  Any additional info and comments are appreciated.  Thanks!  Kevin

If it makes an stl you can most likely print it.

Thanks, cmetzel.  I am an engineer, and therefore familiar with SolidWorks 3D CAD, but don't want to spend the $$$ on it for home use.  Invent has a LOT of limitations like some of this other software out here, but it IS easy and quick, and you can do some surprisingly detailed design using it.  Thanks again! No problem and welcome.   Did you know that for every legal seat of Solidworks your company owns you are able to install it on a home computer for learning purposes.   Look into it, that's how I have it at home.

By the looks of their website it should be doable. They have an Up! (Or some other similar printer) on their front page. Check out some of the tutorials - there is one to export to an STL, then just import that into repetier.

cmetzel and others,

thanks a million!  Our company has SolidWorks on a main engineering station CPU.  I contacted SolidWorks support and they told me that normally they only allow one extra install per license (somebody else already has it), however, they have set me up with an extra install key so that I can set up here at the house.   Looks like I'll be in business, lol!  Thanks again for the input!

That's awesome, sounds like a good company to do that for you.
