Topic: Edit an STL file?

I've tried importing into solidworks and Mastercam, but I have a file I need to add a .125" hole through the middle of.  What software can I use to do this to an STL file?

Thanks, I'll have to try that out.

Ovrclck350, how did Sketchup work for you?  I have an STL file that I want to make a little shorter. Wasn't sure it if was easier to edit it as an STL file or if I should use a GCODE editor to remove several layers.

Re: Edit an STL file?

Wings 3d will import/export STL files.  It is a suprising great modeling software that is easy to learn and its free.  The only draw back is there is no measurement system.  But at the very least you can import the file and export it as one of many other files that are more widely usable.

Re: Edit an STL file?

There's Autodesk's free 123d Meshmixer, which I'm working on learning at the moment. Targeted toward 3d printing, with tools for support generation & much more.

I'll also second Wings 3d, it's a very powerful modelling tool.
