Topic: New to the hobby, seeking advice

Hey all! My SD4 arrived today and I was wondering if there is any calibrating/set up that isn't outlined by solidoodle that you more experienced folks would advise.

Start at the WIKI and sift through what applies to your machine which is a lot because an SD4 is basically the same as an SD3.  They all share the same basic components.  Z-height and a flat bed will go a long way towards getting your prints to stick.  A piece of cheap hardware store glass seems to be the most common mod (perfectly flat).  If your using ABS  a little aqua-net goes a long way to help your prints stick to the bed and you can also use it to stick the glass to the bed.
Spend some time focusing on extruder calibration (steps/mm and extrusion multiplier).
Most importantly spend some time reading things like the STICKY topics and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Happy printing
