Topic: How do I print this?

SD2, upgraded to Pro, Heated bed, glass, hairspray.
I have tried almost every position to print this piece.  I really don't know how to use the support functions.  I tried the default support, and ended up with a rather large block of PLA that I couldn't separate from the actual print.
Using Repetier V0.85b, & Slic3r V 1.01
Can someone show me the appropriate 'support' settings to use?  As I said, I'm currently using the defaults.  Since Christmas, my prints have gotten noticeably better, but I am stumped here.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanx

Re: How do I print this?

Many people struggle to print objects whole, when it's not necessary.  You just have to get creative with how you can deconstruct your objects, so you can print them in pieces that are easy to print, then all you need to do is glue the pieces together.

Usually that works well with ABS, but no so well with PLA. With PLA you can use Epoxy or CA, but acetone doesn't work with it.

Here is your model cut into two pieces tat don't require any support and will print perfectly.  All you need to do is glue the pieces together.

I will try that.  Never thought of splitting it into two parts.  Gotta learn to play with the G-code.

Thanx for the help!

Re: How do I print this?

It's not the GCode.  It's learning to use a program that can manipulate the STL model.  Something like NetFabb or MeshLab
