Topic: Error Code 0040
Been playing with the new printer about 1 week and yesterday it gave me a 0040 error 2 times ( on the same STL file ) anyone else run into the 0040 error?

haven't run into it myself, but per the manual

I got it, but it was because my SD card wasn't plugged in all the way to my ribbon cable.
If you pop the back open you can verify the SD card is in all the way. I can't imagine it coming loose, but that's the only time I've seen that error. It *COULD* be a bad SD card.

hurrikain - could you post the STL file here so that others can test it to see if the message pops up also?

I had the error message with a loose SD card too. reseated it and the error went away.

The only way I see to get to the card is to remove the board, is there a easier way to reseat it?

Unfortunately no.
Right now, you have 3 options:
- Removing the board, reseating the card. (I do it like this, but I only used two of the screws to bolt the board back on the printer. It's easier to remove again in the future with only 2 screws)
- Using a dremel, and cutting a slot into the side of your printer case (this will invalidate your warranty)
- Installing an SD card extension cable.
The last two options imply removing the board anyway...

I had to remove unscrew the motherboard but I did not have to disconnect the cables since there was enough slack (YMMV).

Did you remove the sd card and reseat it.. Thats what I had to do to get mine to work....

I removed and put on my card and nothing, further error 0040 does not print any demo
Maybe I should upload the original files on the sd card ?

Yes move the files from the original card to your new one.. but I'm thinking your original card is fine... The way the card sits in the sd slit to me seems cheap there is no defined click and hold to the card, it just pushes in.. I tried moving my card around, and it kept failing, but once I removed the card and reinserted it it took right off...

I got the 0040 Error today on my xyz Da Vinci 1.0 Pro. I knew it had something to do with the SD card as I just installed an extension cable (ribbon) with SD reader. This was so I would have access to the card without undoing the back. I was getting worried as nothing I seemed to do fixed the issue including going back to the original card without extension.
----- Problem was I was not installing the Mirco SD card right. The front of the card must be sitting all the way forward, beyond the pins in its slot. Then close the tiny door and slide to the right to lock. If your card is loose in its slot, with cover secured, then you know you did not have card forward enough.
Ribbon working good now and I have access to card. I just fed the ribbon through hole in back right side from MB access cover into print area. I taped it to the floor.

Hi I have the same problem and have had it for months now with extension cable and card in the original slot, I have tried several cards with the files added and without the files added the machine boots but will not print although it will perform all menu items can someone please help me
