Topic: SW STL files

I use SolidWorks to generate the stl files for Skeinforge to slice. I get alot of this error " there is a hole in the triangle mesh, each edge should have two faces."

I've never had any issues with stl files from SW in the past (or at least the RP vendors i've used have not complained), and things seem to be printing ok. Has anyone else seen this error from SW? Can I safely ignore it?

Thanks

Re: SW STL files

I had the same issue with Inventor generated STL's. It turned out to be that Skeinforge did not recognize the part was in inches. I had to scale the part to mm and resave it. After that it worked.

Re: SW STL files

This happens sometimes. Just run it through cloud.netfabb.com.

I typically ignore it, but you can get a goofy print once in a while.  Safer bet is to run through netfabb as suggested above.  Cleans up the STL

Re: SW STL files

Thanks for the link. I've imported it to the free version of netfabb and it found no issues with the STL. I re exported it anyway and skeinforge seemed to like it better even though I didn't do a thing to it.
