?? Is this just a software interpreter like http://www.simplify3d.com/ ?
It's nice to see some real innovation happening in software. There isn't a lot more that can be done with hardware, but there are certainly more possibilities on the software side. That said, a printer that can turn the nozzle 45 degrees would be great for 3D toolpaths so it can stay closer to perpendicular to sloped surfaces.
Yeah Ian, I was thinking the same with respect to the angle changing head, a lot of the high end robots and plasma cutters now have this ability so you can cut bevels and all sorts of cool things!
I requested sample gcode from the company to see how well it works. The only thing really limiting factor here is the angle from the nozzle tip to the next lowest section of the extruder, which for many people would be a fan.
I would be interested in seeing your print of that sample.
Unfortunately, I have not heard anything back from them as of yet. I'll have to try again to get in contact. I really wanted to see how well my z axis behaves. I don't measure any backlash with the indicator.
I'm just anxious for more reliable software. I see slic3r doing weird illogical things all the time ha. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that it's free, I just feel it's time I upgraded to more appropriate software.
Very cool! I hope they get somewhere. The idea of utilizing the z axis like they do is rather unique.
