Topic: Questions for Australian Solidoodlers

Hello fellow Aussies,

I have decided to buy a SD4 and have a few questions:
■ Did the import of a SD4 attract any additional taxes?
■ How long did it take to get your Solidoodle?
■ Do you have any recommendations on Australia based ABS stockists?
■ How was the condition of you SD when you received it? e.g. any issues of damage during shipping

Re: Questions for Australian Solidoodlers

Shipping time - It took a while when I ordered (just after christmas, there were some delays then). I think 7 weeks all up, 4 in production and 3 shipping. I think if you ordered now it looks like closer to 2 weeks production max, shipping is probably similar although reportedly very variable. Be patient. smile

Filament - I've purchased from an online place called bilbycnc. They have $10 shipping and not a bad range of filament. The filament I've used (to the best of my knowledge) has worked well, no complaints.

Condition - very good, levelled the bed and adjusted the x endstop switch and it was printing.

Can't help on the import duty as my SD3 was under the $1000 threshold.

Hope that helps.

SD3. Mk2b + glass, heated enclosure, GT2 belts, direct drive y shaft, linear bearings, bowden-feed E3D v5 w/ 0.9° stepper

Re: Questions for Australian Solidoodlers

Took about 3 weeks last August, but that's rather irrelevant because times will have changed since then.

For Filament I go to modfab.com.au, Ben has been really helpful with my orders and has replaced a dud roll for me.

As for condition it was all in working order but did require a lot of calibration and eventually replacement parts(though mines an SD2).

This is a crowd funding thing that I'm running: http://www.gofundme.com/bvi140 It's for pretty selfish reasons tongue
