People who havent gotten their printers yet can spend an extra $x to get the Solidoodle 3, which is the same as the Solidoodle 2, but 2 inches bigger in each axis.

Ordered my 2 in late September. Reason I did the upgrade is I figure for 100 bucks I would only be extending my order by a few weeks. Now just crossing my fingers that I didn't screw up and extend my wait another four months.

Hopefully I am high up enough on the list to get early delivery since my SD2 was due to ship any day  before I chose to upgrade.  My original order was 2967, ordered July 23.  Sometimes long lead times can resuilt in fortuitous oportunity.

Re: Solidoodle 3 orders

OUCH!!! The cruelty of it all!  Last monday marked 17 weeks since I placed my order for an SD2 Expert.  It also marked the day I requested the upgrade to SD3, and paid the extra amount for it.  Tuesday, they shipped me an 3D printer and filiment.  After seeing this Wednesday morning, I asked if this was the correct printer since I was now expecting a January delivery after choosing to upgrqade..  This afternoon I received my answer.  When the printer arrives Monday, I have to refuse it... Oh!  The pain of it all!!!!  Not a very funny joke!
Oh well...  I missed it by THAAAAAAAAAT much.

Newbee looking at different 3d systems...This forum is a VERY POOR statement about company, support and honesty when no one is getting straight answers on the status of deliveries. Why would it be any different for me?

It probably wouldn't, but what's the alternative?

I think SD is doing a pretty good job at bringing a very competitively priced printer to people who otherwise would not have even considered buying one smile as for the shipping status all you have to do is check the forums and it keeps you pretty well updated as to where things are.-->http://www.soliforum.com/topic/3/orders … t/page/23/ I run a manufacturing business and it is very hard and costly to to keep inventory on hand for unforeseen sales jumps due to popularity of certain items and then when you do order more you find that everyone else with bigger pockets than yourself just wiped out the suppliers you use sad SO now you have delays in getting inventory that stops your own assembly line and the next thing you hear is customers wondering where their printer is.... you mention honesty, I can only assume you are referring to the 6-8 weeks lead time?I am sure that they keep thinking they can meet those terms...and they are getting better with each week, but like most things in small manufacturing especially with JIT one little wrench in the works anywhere and the rest of the machine slows to a crawl, I also have direct experience with other 3d printer manufacturers and printers that are selling for more the twice a SD2 and are taking just as long to ship currently as SD and yet the other places list a 4-6 week lead time.... go figure???

Anyways just my .02 cents, Ron

Re: Solidoodle 3 orders

Coal Miner please understand i know i complain but i've been wanting one a long time and waiting a long time. Partly due to my own fault of going for the S3 when they announced it. They are trying to be honest and run a good buisiness. They are based in brooklyn and had problems when huricane sandy came through but they are actually ahead ofschedule i expect in about 6 months they will announce the s4 with a 12 inch build area(j/K)

Re: Solidoodle 3 orders

Sd hasnt really ever given wrong answers,  most people are upset because of quoted time frame not being true.  Certainly understandable but they are getting better and better.  It comes down to this for you s3 guys,  you want a junk product but on time or can you deal with the wait and get a printer that'll be better than trying to rush them out the door
