Topic: solidoodles ... so professionnal...

solidoodle make solidoodleS.com ... a thingiverse repository like... they do a beta test period to find bugs.. all is fine..

then they decided to launch a design challenge for the official opening of the "make solid doodles' website..

BUT.. after 3 days, we discovered that they use a remaining 128Mo hard drive on the server where they put the website..

THEY LAUNCH a challenge to attract people (boss speaking " we want some VISIBILITY" )... and this is what i get since 2 days when i try to login (warning.. it hurts all Makers who has more than 10% of technical capacity ...)

Warning (2): Unknown: write failed: No space left on device (28) [Unknown, line 0]

Warning (2): Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) [Unknown, line 0]

so i can not login (and probably a lot of others..) because the server cannot create the temporary session because THEY ARE OUT OF SPACE.....

but it's not the worst...

when you click on "SUPPORT" (bottom right of the first page, because we are kind, and we want to tell them that the site is down..) , they ask you to LOGIN !!!

well done...

EDIT :

another good one...

if you ask to reset the password of your account, they send you a link to reset the password... BUT THEY DONT GIVES YOU THE NEW PASSWORD...

come on...

EDIT 2 : the problem is corrected.... for the problem of empty spaces

We are upgrading our servers. Use was higher than estimated.

As for the password, no we will not e-mail you your new password. That's not how it works. The password reset feature just allows you to log in and change your password. This is fairly standard, since it is seen as universally unsafe to e-mail folks passwords.

no one should be storing anyone's password in plain text. companies shouldn't know my password what they should see if they look it up in their DB is an encrypted version of my PW.

so as far as sending you your password it should be impossible to do on every site this day and age.

I never said anything about a plain text password. What most places do is send you a temporary (random) password that you can then change.

Of course, it is not acceptable to store passwords in plaintext. If we're on the subject, what hashing/salting do you guys use for Fort Solidoodle?

There are tons of warnings within the link itself long before it gets NSFW, but yeah, my bad.

Sam will be replying to the GPL thread today. Short story: The license is now mentioned in the boxes, and in the manuals.

i'm sorry but when i follow the link i received, it heads me at the login screen where you CAN'T login if you didn't have a password... that you didn't have that's why you ask for a password reset....

i do it 2 times.. i will try a third time to see if i need better glasses..

Did a quick check and it worked for me. I'll have our testers play around, and see if they can reproduce the error.

What browser are you using?
Cleared your cache?

Could be related to the earlier problem.

That's certainly an option.

I'm not sure I am at liberty to disclose how our hashing works, but I can tell you:
1) Yes we salt things properly.
2) We use an extremely common hashing algorithm.

So we're not doing anything silly like rolling our own crypto

If you use scrypt w/ salt then thats fine for storing web passwords.

Check out using a CDN for file storage. Thats how I set up my (80% complete) stl sharing site for soliforum which I swear I will finish one day.

I think Amazon does most of things that CDN would do for us (that is if you are referring to the models themselves.)

We have a 10 megabyte limit for uploads.

10 mo? no way.. i try and can't upload a model of 9Mo ... my model original weight is 26 mo... and as we can't upload a zip.. i was oblige to downgrade it.. (bad)

we can't remove uploaded pictures to replace them by others.. (as the auto adjust size of the picture can't keep the ratio of the original... bad again..)

i work more than 25 hours on this model with two test prints of 7 hours each to be sure that anybody can print it without support ...to discover that there is a limit that is written nowhere

you can understand that working on a model of 10 mo is not the same work from the start than a model without weight size limit.. you do not think about it the same way..

thanks... there is also a problem with the 'like' fonction... all the models got the same number of "like" if we like only one model..

and it will be good if we can changed any of the picture of the model

You can change the picture of the model. Upload a new picture, and click within the preview pane.
We do it all the time.

If you mean the facebook likes, since the number is so small we route them all to the same place.

As for our own like function, it should be working.

You should post bug information in the Solidoodles beta subforum. It's easier to keep track of it there.

the probleme is to remove the OTHEr pictures.. not the primary picture of the object..

it seem that i didn't have access to the subforum anymore... and your server are out of memory again...
