Topic: New to Solidoodle

Hello,
I purchased my very first 3d printer last week - a Gen 4 Solidoodle.  I appear to be having issues where the -Z axis and +Z axis are reversed.  When I use the Repetier software to move the Z axis to the positive it lowers, and when I use to to lower it raises.  I think I need to invert the axis, but am clueless on how to do this.

I looked in the registry for this specific item and couldn't find it.  If anyone has hit this before please let me know.

Thank you.

That's normal. + moves the head "up", which means moving the bed down. It's a carryover from CNC.

Re: New to Solidoodle

Hmm here is my problem then.  When I do any sort of operation involving up or down, the printer runs to far with it.  For example, I tried to print something small and the bed went into the extruder and didn't want to stop.  It is like the printer thought the bed was going to opposite direction.

So When I press + the bed goes down.  When I press - the bed goes up.

Any ideas?

How can I invert the Z Axis?

Re: New to Solidoodle

You shouldn't invert the Z-axis, I don't know why you keep asking that. "+" should move the bed down, which is the same as moving the toolhead up. Again, it is a carryover from CNC.

If the bed went into the extruder, you need to adjust the screw that the Z-axis endstop touches during homing.

Re: New to Solidoodle

Ok I am trying to do that but the video on the support page does not match the equipment of a Gen 4.

I see how the screw works but am having a heck of a time getting it configured.  Any tips?

I found the problem after watching the process very very carefully.  The End stop is being engaged but isn't doing anything.  Maybe a loose connection or a bad end stop.  I am checking now.

Re: New to Solidoodle

After further inspection (and taking it completely apart) the z clip had come loose.  I tested it by pressing on the device and it wasn't registering the end stop, I then adjusted the clip so it was secure (yes the power was off).  I then tried to raise it will the button pushed in and the console was showing endstop had been reached.  Wahoo!

Thank you for the help, and sorry if I was being stubborn elmoret.  I do appreciate you!
