Topic: My new 3d printer Afinia H480

Hi everyone,

Just got my new afinia h480

I know it's a rebranded up plus 2 with a couple of small changes for those of you who bring it up
smile

I can tell you it's 20 times better than the solidoodle even with a couple of upgrades
depending on the upgrades of course wink

I know this photo is overexposed but I had to head out to work.
In person you cant feel or see any layer lines.

I love this printer!

Powder coated steel enclosure, 1/4" Surface grounded hardened aluminum plate, MK2A Heat bed, .200 Polished fused quartz plate, Machined quick change hot bed mount, E3D hot end, Ramps 1.4, DRV8825 stepper motor drivers

Haha no I use that to record tutorials and voice overs
for short films I do on the side for fun

Techbuilder - congrats on the new printer - I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Question - are you using the Up!/Afina filament? The reason their filament is more exxy is because its actually an ABS-PC blend, and accounts a LOT for the finish quality ( read, all things being equal, and mechanical artifacts aside, the SD will print much nicer with the Up! filament than 'normal' ABS... )

Eitherway - yes they are nice printers.. but the ABS-PC filament makes a huge difference to quality for people that are using the Up!/Afina branded ABS.... not only are parts nicer, but they are more durable than the same part in 'pure' (ahem!) ABS ... Only downside is you have to pay the Up!/Afina premium price for the filament (but hey, given its a known quantity, its actually sorta kinda worth it...)

Yes I currently am and I was wondering what the additional type of plastic
they were adding to the mix.

Has anyone tried attempting this blend on there filastruder?

I was going to add the temperature mod to the afinia so I could use my filastruder filament.
