Topic: PCB Fan holder

Here's a little doodad some may appreciate.

I just made this for my SD3, and I thought that some folks might want something like this for theirs.  This is a replacement cover for the SD3 PCB, with a built-in fan mount.

It will support any 50mm fan, but it's made for the older SD3 with the Sanguinololu PCB (bolt hole pattern).

Nice!!! and a blue fan to boot smile

Re: PCB Fan holder

Nice design - sorry to hear about the mishap sad Sucks that given how nice it looks it may now be superfluous for you sad (since a replacement sang vs a better board means it doesn't make sense to stick with a sang....)

As you know by now, I was able to salvage the Sanguino board, but if I can get the Printrboard going, I might go to that, simply because it has extruder fan support.

So, this fan holder is not obsolete just yet... smile

Yes, good to hear! I personally wouldnt have gone the printrboard - its by no means an 'upgrade' and instead would have gone at least a RAMPS if not a Rumba as they genuinely have loads more features... But thats not relevant to this particular thread in anyway what so ever smile

Good job on getting it all back up and running! smile

Re: PCB Fan holder

im so jealous ! i really like it but the holes for the printrboard as you know are a tiny bit different. hopefully you adapt it to fit!

Re: PCB Fan holder

Give me the dimensions (hole spacing), and I'll make one for the Printrboard.

Here's the one I made for my printrboard:

It was also a good test for X-Y calibration, since the screw holes don't come out in the right place unless the calibration is good :-).

Re: PCB Fan holder

Here is the Printrboard version.  I used the gerber files for the Printrboard rev.F,to get the hole spacing.  If this doesn't match the Solidoodle version, let me know.

Re: PCB Fan holder

If I'm doing the math right, that doesn't match the hole positions on my cover plate:

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:168594

The 53.5 is real close, but the vertical is 97.41 on mine (I pulled the positions off by scanning the original solidoodle cover plate on a flatbed scanner).

Re: PCB Fan holder

That's really strange, because the overall length of a Printrboard is exactly 100mm.  I checked this against the 2 Rev. D boards I have, a Geeeteck, and an original PrintrBot, and they're both 100mm in length.

The only explanation would be that Solidoodle's version is dramatically redesigned. Perhaps someone else could measure the actual Solidoodle Printrboard and provide the dimensions.

Re: PCB Fan holder

Here's the 600dpi scan of the solidoodle cover plate showing all the holes. The plate seems to be 104mm long.
