Topic: Sanding of ABS

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Solidoodle 3, but have a very neophyte question. In most prints, banding (or even a latticework) is visible.  Can you easily sand this out to a smooth finish, or does sanding just reveal more banding underneath?

I know that you can do a acetone vapor bath to smooth things out, but this seems really imprecise, and may make prints look less crisp and exact. It'd be fine for organic looking prints, but not something angular or architectural.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Sanding of ABS

Flat surfaces are easy to sand down, but curved surface are better dealt with using small files.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
