Hello,
Has anyone here painted objects they printed, and if so what kind of paint did you use, and how did it turn out? I was thinking about getting Krylon Fusion paint, but I heard that you can just use normal paint on ABS and not spend the extra money for Fusion.
From what I've heard, it's easier to spray a few coats of white primer (especially on dark abs) and then you only have to spray a few coats of color. Primer and color spray paints can be found almost anywhere like Walmart or lowes. That's what I plan to do if I paint my prints but others may have a better idea.
That sounds like a better idea than using fusion, and you would also have a larger color selection if you just use normal paint on top of the primer.
The fusion paint bonds really good to abs, regular paint may not have the same toughness... if it's just for looks go with any cheap spray paint and like you said better color selection

I thought plastic models kits were made out of plain styrene (ethenylbenzene). ABS is a derivative (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene); I don't know how that affects paintability.

Well, model paints are a bit more expensive especially if your going to paint a lot.
