Topic: Kapton or not

Hello All...

New printer from Santa today. (SD2 Basic)  Got it working, I think.  Before I go farther, my print bed is about 3/8 clear acrylic with a cross-hatch.  Most all I've read, and seen pics of in the last month or so shows the heat beds with Kapton tape on it, seems to be both heated and not.
Do I print on the acrylic, or get something else.
Looking forward to a lengthy relationship with this little contraption, but gotta get started.

Thanx

I'm pretty sure the basic is for printing in PLA. You can print on the bed, but you might have trouble with it sticking too well. I think your best bet would be to print on blue painters tape. It sticks well' but you can still remove the parts.

This basic model does not come with a heated bed(kapton over aluminum) you can put blue painters tape on it and print or try it directly, I have not tried a SD printer with the acrylic bed so not sure about using it bare.

Thanx for the replies.  I got some blue tape, will give it a try and be back - probably tomorrow.....
