Topic: hello from PA

Hello all

I'm In the process of finding some good forums to join.  My goal is to increase my knowledge base learn some new tricks and hopefully help out where I can.  A good chunk of my job is 3d printing, maintaining our printers, keeping stock of printer material and even more so 3d design based in Creo.  I also have Solidworks and Inventor, but they are rarely used.  Also at my disposal is a ScanShark, 4 foot 3d scanner with Polyworks as the post processing software.  That too is unfortunately rarely utilized due to lack of calibration and the need of a parametric model to import into Creo.

I have a Connex 500 (polyjet) and a Dimension 1200es (FDM).

My imitate goal is to be pointed in a good direction for a DIY printer, open source, free, with SLT files. I want to be able to build most of the parts from the printers I have and utilize a Raspberry Pi.

I just quickly glanced at a few posts and saw mention of what i'm looking for.  But i wanted to say hi and if anyone has a particular post they think i should look at that would be great.

edit

Feel a little awkward about this, didn’t' realize this was a forum devoted to one particular product.

Re: hello from PA

mmead1014,

It's only that way in name.  If you're using a filament driven printer (reprap or brand name) we can try to help you out.  Not saying we have all the answers, but we can try, right?  wink
