Topic: Smallest filament size

I've got a SD2 with a .42 nozzle set for 1.75mm filament.  How much smaller can I go?  Can I go 1.25mm?

with filament that small you will probably have problems keeping it from kinking, while it will lose pressure in the melt zone it will probably still work but the output from the nozzle will be very irregular at the least.

Depends on the hotend, but 1.2mm probably won't feed very well through the pinch rollers. 1.5mm is the smallest I've run reliably.

Re: Smallest filament size

I'm kind of curious why you would want to run filament smaller than 1.75.  Aren't most filaments either 1.75 or 3mm?  Is there some other type of material that's sold in smaller diameters?  Now a smaller nozzle I think I understand because that would get higher horizontal resolution (I think).

No reason why, just curious.

Smaller diameter filament would have the same effect on moire as a microstepping driver. (ie an improvment)
