Topic: Hi from England!

Hello everyone!

I have decided to sign up as i am just about to buy my first 3D printer. I am sure i will have plenty of questions and need plenty of help.

My first question would be a common one i am sure you have all been asked before. Is this printer any good? The Duplicator 4, which seems to be a Chinese copy of the MakerBot Replicator 2. There seems to be very little information on this product but seems to be widely sold. It seems like such a high quality printer at such a low price. Should i be worried?

If i cannot get this, i am going to shell out for the actual MakerBot.

Meanwhile, what are the first things you guys printed and how much fun have you had with this amazing technology? I want to hear your stories big_smile

Welcome to the forum. As to the sd being a good printer remember this is an emerging technology and yes I find it works great if you follow the forum posts on issues.Mine out of the box was dialed in really good.I added the glass bed and mk5 upgrade for the jigsaw that it came with.Both are really basic and needed items in my book.Be sure to follow the soliwiki setup calibrations and you'll find a great machine awaits you. Don't hesitate to ask if problem pops up.Better to ask than get in a deeper hole. I printed a 10mm cube sorta like a baby borg cuse to test with til I had the setting right. Then I have gone wild printing things. Anyway take care and enjoy!

ha, just realised you are talking about the solidoodle. i cant get those printers here, which is a shame, but i was looking at the Duplicator 4. any advice?

Well i found some good reviews on the Dupe 4, so i bought one big_smile it shall be here the end of next week.

Good to hear, remember to take lots of pics and give us a report of your likes/dislikes and other tidbits smile I have seen at least a couple of people on here mentioning looking at the D4 but I can't remember if they ordered it or not??? it was a month or two ago.

I shall give a full review on the printer as there are simply not enough about. The ones i have seen though are all good.
