Topic: What are the possible causes of this?

Hey everyone,

I had a friend of mine take all my emblems and create files in solid works. He gave me the files and when I tried to print them I ran into a snag. It prints the shape of the emblem, but when it prints the letters it will do a layer, then the next layer it will just cover the letters. IT will continue doing this till all that is left is just the shape.

I have attached a photo because I just confused myself with what I wrote.

The files may not be manifold. Can you post the STLs? You can also try to fix it yourself using http://cloud.netfabb.com/ .

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

I find it an awfully large file size for a model like this...but it seemed to slice just fine.

If you want, try my rendition and see if it prints any better...I could not replicate the fonts, etc perfectly, I just eyeballed it; but see if it prints any better for you.
