Topic: Hot market for 3D printing?

Model railroaders. Everything from buildings, bridges, water tanks, people, train cars and rock formations could all be made on most 3D printers. I'll bet that eventually railroaders will have a forum where they can share and download all sorts of cool models.

For that market you are going to want a form1 or B9 creator.   It would be even better if you can take requests,  like making your customers own house to put into their train set.

^ +1 I have been toying around with the idea of scanning bride and groom's and making custom wedding cake toppers for only a few hundred bucks. Also, personalized place holders, vases and other sappy crap.  I figure there has to be room in that $25K budget for some 3d printing.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

You must not know the same model train guys that I know. They may very well be worse than a bride.

Good point...LOL.. but the real question is why open yourself up to a market where your only buyer is satan?  ok maybe not satan....but very picky and hard to deal with?
