Topic: Screensaver for .stl???

I was wondering if anyone had created a screensaver for rotating 3D models? I think it might be cool to design something and see it spinning on my desktop fading in and out of wireframe. Has anyone done this yet?

That does seem like a cool idea.

Re: Screensaver for .stl???

This could be a start...just upload your STL to the Soliforum and open it to see the rotating 3D preview and start a screen recording.  Once you've got a video, try this:

Good luck!

SD2 - Stock - Enclosure - Heated Bed - Glass Plate - Auto Fire Extinguisher
Ord Bot Hadron - RAMPS 1.4 - Bulldog XL - E3D v6 - 10" x 10" PCB Heated Build w/SSR - Glass Plate

Not quite the same. You wouldn't see it rotate randomly changing speeds and angles, and other odd ways to approach the object. Just using a video wouldn't be the same.

Well, like I said...It's a start.  When I preview an STL, it starts spinning by itself, but if you want to vary the speeds and such, Perhaps a motion study video recorded in FreeCad or Solidworks would suffice.

Maybe a way to make the object appear to bounce off the edges of the screen and all over the desktop sometimes as well might be cool.
