Topic: Is it possible to make sand casting pattern from 3D print?

Hi,

I am pretty new for 3D printing technology, Can anybody help me to give direction on using 3D printing parts as pattern for sand casting process?

Hi Kamlesh, What did you want to know regarding models for sand casting? They work great as it is easy to enlarge the models for any shrinkage rate you want. Like wood models make sure the printed models are smooth and shaped for easy removal from the flasks.

Yes.  Done it for years.  All sand casting rules apply you just make your pattern on a machine.

hmm,  have to get me one of those!

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.
