Topic: Solidoodle live podcast

We are putting together plans for a Solidoodle live podcast with call ins from users.

Our question to you:

What's a good day of the week? When would this work for you?

We want to want to be more transparent, and give shout outs to some of the users on here.

We're open to call ins, and respectful questions.

Really, no response yet?

I think the bulk of people would have to do it after work or on a weekend.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

So many time zones. I would set up two or three of them and let us pick the time that suits us best.

Hardware: SD3, Octoprint, Raspberry Pi
Software: Cura and ViaCad

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

Weekend would be better, since after work is such a wide range.  For me that would be 9pm eastern.  Being on the west coast, most live streaming things happen during work.

I agree with Ian. Weekends, evenings.

unconvincing narrative." Pooh in "The Mikado", Gilbert and Sullivan

Good day of the weekend?
We were thinking perhaps a Tuesday evening. Maybe 6-7 eastern.

We'll look into the weekend.

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

I know the 6-7 Tues time is just after working hours for you, but it's 3pm for the west coast, and 2am and later for Europe, so you will mostly be looking at people in ET for calls.  If you do something like 12pm Sat you will get a wider range of possible participants.

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

weekends please, my evenings are all tied up right now.

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

I would vote weekends also...

Right here is where we see if Solidoodle listens to their customer base.  If they have it durring the week when everyone says they are busy then we know they are only concerned about them selves.  If they choose to give up a little of their weekend time it shows they are concerned about the product and what they can do to improve it along with their customers

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

How about doing a live chat in IRC?  The live portions of some of my favorite podcasts use text-based chat and it seems to work great for the format of a podcast by letting the hosts cherry pick interesting comments and skip those that aren't as exciting.

By the way:  Hello, this is my first post smile

Re: Solidoodle live podcast

A Podcast sounds fun.  The live one should be Friday evening or Saturday evening to attract the most participants.  You might also think about hosting several in different time zones and then having them hosted somewhere for later access to the community.
You might have one dedicated to the FAC and other newbie issues.  Perhaps one on a common topic from the forum.
Being able to listen to this type of information would make it accessible while one can not read, and would make a fine alternative to the common audio book or song fest.

Absolutely. Chat will surely be in the mix.

Update:

We shall most likely be doing this on a Saturday afternoon. Thinking early to mid November, so we can get this in before the Holiday disruptions. Most likely doing it on a "every once and a while basis" comparable to the stack exchange podcast.

Most likely we shall be taking calls via skype, and chat via IRC.
