Its not like it needs a start up page even made. they are like $2 and available at every office supply store known to man. Sponge my be different to hold up to the acetone but lets not try to make this into a mystical thing
I can't wait to pledge $50 to get one of these magical devices delivered next June (or later)!

wicking felt would work all you would need is a housing.

Sounds like a job for a dried up felt tipped magic marker. Just dip it and/or soak it in acetone... kind of a neat idea.
look for the metal markers. the plastic ones may melt, like the plastics we are working with.
