Topic: any larger spools of filament

I am running very large prints (40+ hrs) I have to splice in more than 1 roll and at times I find myself babysitting the machine.
The current 1kg roll I am using is 1.75mm and is about 1,080 ft but I need more than that.

Ultimachine has most of their colors available in 5lb spools, including silver - https://ultimachine.com/content/abs-175 … -5lb-spool

Also I have heard of people getting 10lb spools from Village Plastics.  Their web distributor only offers .5kg and 1kg spools, but if you go through the quote request you can probably get larger quantities - https://ultimachine.com/content/abs-175 … -5lb-spool

The time I purchased from Acme Plastic Welding or something like that, so an industrial supplier, the minimal order was 10lbs and that's the kind of spool it came in.

Re: any larger spools of filament

I've been having problems printing just from a normal solidoodle 1kg reel because as the plastic gets used up and it works down to the tightly packed inner layers, the extruder motor is having to work too hard to pull the filament through (which has me working on a new spool mount with ball bearing garage door rollers :-).

I'm just wondering if the motor would have a hard time with the inertia involved in getting a 5 or 10 pound reel to turn?
