Topic: Sample print request

Hi,

I am looking at several 3D printers to purchase.  I have a small part that I have designed and would like to get a sample of one before buying to see if it can do what I am after.  If you have one of the following printers, I would like a sample of my part from YOUR printer as the best way to evaluate.  I would be willing to pay your material costs and shipping via Paypal gift and be much obliged.  Following are the printers I am looking at:
Makibox
Printrbot
Solidoodle
OTHER sub $1000 printer???  Recommendations?

If printed solid, my sample part is 1 in^3 and mass of .64 oz, solid print not required, can be hollow but need all outside features.  I will send over an STL file.

Send me a PM if you are interested.  Thanks.

PS.   I will also add that I don't need any cleaning or hand work...I will take care of that!

Re: Sample print request

Send it to 2n2r5 for the best possible Solidoodle print, if you want to know the max possible after of tuning.

Not the guru, but one of a short list who have done a lot to further the perfection of printing using a solidoodle.  I would say that Tim (elmoret) is correct.  Use the PM system (upper right of screen) and see if he wants to give it a try.  I'd be willing to bet that he has better output than most of us.

Thanks.  Copy that.
So, lots of tuning required for these things seems to be the deal....bummer...

I would say that the printer functions well pretty much out of the box, but yes, there is tuning required.  2n25r has made a lot of modifications to make printing a lot better.  My prints are serviceable with some cleaning, but I don't need perfection off the plate as most of my parts are multipart and need to be joined then cleaned to make them look nice, so "rough around the edges" is good enough.  For prototyping you just want to make sure that the dimensions are correct.  A good looking prototype piece is nice, but not necessary.

Hope you find what you're looking for!
