Did you find your filament extruded thinner because you used a Diet DrPepper Bottle ?? ![]()
That's funny, I was just thinking of a hopper variant with grooves in it to take a soda bottle! Looks like it doesn't even need the grooves.
Once I get some time, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I am going to make one with threads anyways. Just because I'd like to be able to put in a 2L bottle and not worry that it will tip over.

Great minds think alike!

The "FilaBottle" is a system for using 2 Liter bottles with the FilaStruder. This allows you to print large quantities of filament without having to constantly refill the hopper. And it allows you to store pre-mixed large batches of pellets in 2 Liter bottles, giving more consistency and protecting the material from humidity.
The parts are:
- FilaFinnel: funnel that screws onto a 2 Liter bottle.
- FilAdapter: adapter that screws onto a 2 Liter bottle and fits into the Filastruder hopper.
To use it:
1) Find a clean, dry 2 Liter bottle, with a cap.
2) Screw the FilaFunnel onto the bottle. Pour in the base material and colorant.
3) Remove the funnel, put on the cap, and shake until the colorant is evenly mixed.
4) Remove the funnel.
5) Screw on the FilAdapter. Invert the bottle and slot it into the Filastruder. Make sure that you hold the top of the bottle over the Filastruder hopper so that any pellets that fall out land in the hopper.
4) Print a lot.
5) When you're done extruding for the day, remove the bottle, and put the cap back on, to keep the plastic sealed. When you remove the bottle, keep the top over the hopper so that pellets fall into the hopper. Or use a finger to keep the pellets in.
6) Remove the FilAdapter and put the cap back on, to keep your plastic dry.
Nice!
I wonder if putting a sliding "door" within the adapter would work for opening/shutting the plastic flow out of the bottle, so you didn't have it spilling out when you invert the bottle. Or would it not "slice through" the pellet flow enough to be useful? Something to experiment with.
Cool idea. 3dgringo! Go for it - the source code is there!
Do others get a End of Thingverse 404 error?
Searching for /thing:157575 or just 157575 fails.
I have to search for Filabottle and that connects.
Strange that one can not search for a Thingverse "thing" what is the sense in numbering them if one cannot search them.
Oh well I was able to download the files just wondering.
And yeah 3dgringo I like the idea of a slide.

It's odd that you can't search for Thing numbers. The direct link http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:157575 works, or you can search for a term such as Filastruder or FilaBottle.

But still cannot search for things!

if you got to explore new things, laird has the threads for two liter bottles posted in there. Once you go to that page, there is a remix option there, which has the filastruder attachment Laird made. Thats how I found it.
