Topic: Different infill in different regions?

Any slicers that let you define regions of a model you'd like solid without printing the whole model with solid infill? (Perhaps you know some area needs to be stronger).

The closest you can get is slicing with different settings then pasting the gcodes together at the star of a particular layer.   You also could add small enclosed voids that will cause it to draw perimeters and control the density of that area by how close you put them.   Something like a 1mm hole would trigger perimeters without making an actual hole.

Re: Different infill in different regions?

adding to what Ian said, in slicer there is a solid infill threshold area  variable that produces solid infill for any layers that have an area smaller than n mm^2 . I haven't used this variable specifically but it might take parts of a layer that are smaller than the defined area and make them solid.

So, another example of the perforations being the strongest part (just like paper towels :-). Thanks!
