Topic: upgrading Repetier-Host?

I have a SD3 (new mother board) and i'm one version behind on Repetier-Host.  Can I safely upgrade from .85b to .90c without losing all my settings?

The new one overlays onto your present install.

I am an open book, write on my pages that I may learn the wisdom that you posses.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

I can't get it to work. The bed heater won't work unless I downgrade.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

I put 90c on mine a while back and the bed heater still works????

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

So, do you mean you can not turn the heater on at all? or it just does not come on automatically after slicing...

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Does the newer version have the updated SlicR too? Is it a painlss upgrade from .85b ?

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Installed 90c but extruder is about 1 cm too high. How can I adjust?

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Z tab, on the inside back of your printer near the y stepper motor... small black screw move it up to make the bed closer to the printhead.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Appreciate the answer Ronsii, but this is too much of a gap for the vernier Z screw. I had it calibrated before 90C but it doesn't seem to go down to the print position like it used to. Any other ideas?

There is a setting in Slic3r that will affect Z height,it may have been changed during your attempted upgrade.

Open Slic3r,click "configure" on the right side.In the pop up window select "general",click the "printer settings" tab.You will see

Bed size, print center and "Z offset".

Make sure the Z offset is set to zero, any value other than zero in that window will lower the bed that amount in mm,click save.

If you have changed it,you will have to go back and re-adjust your z-tab.Hopefully everything is back to normal after this.

Even though Z height can be changed by this method,it is always preferable to use your Z-tab instead.

Good luck.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Ronsii, thank you for your help. Still having trouble.  It would not print in the middle of the bed but rather in the starting corner even though starting print position was still set to 100 by 100. I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled driver and v.85. Now it does print in the middle of the bed but the extruder does not go up and down before it starts to print like it used to. Instead it seems to stay at the same height when it comes out of park. Ideas?

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

Not printing in the right place was the behavior I got when I didn't have the recommended start and end code defined in RH. Once I added them it worked perfectly:

http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/har … l#Registry

I am having that issue too (Not printing in the right place )
Where in RH do you define the start and end code?

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

You can find a place to enter start/end gcode in slicer's config/printer settings/custom gcode

In RH under the gcode editor tab you can define the start and end code from a pulldown menu that has start and end among the choices.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

ok I have  read all the info on that , Just what is the "recommended" start and end code that I need  to make it print in the middle? Awhile back it was , must be something I am missing.

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: upgrading Repetier-Host?

re: centering the print. I would like to know what to edit the slic3r/config/printer settings/Start G -code to also. Currently it reads:
G28 ; home all axes
G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle

...and all prints start in right rear quadrant

new SD3
