Topic: DRV8825 on sale

I hav been getting electronics from this place for the past coupe of months. I have not posted about them until I made sure what they delivered actually worked, but this is getting too good for all the people here.

http://www.geeetech.com/2013/08/weekend … s-on-wk35/

They have weekend specials every week. I registered awhile ago and I recently voted to have the DRV8825 boards go on sale.  They are less than $6 each! I have purchased RAMPS, A4988 boards, and LCD smart controller and so far they work just as you expect them to.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

Picking up a pack of ten thermistors isn't a bad idea either.   I've broken a few of those taking nozzles on and off and been lucky to have extras on  hand.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

4 x DRV8825 + Assembled Ramps 1.4 for ~ 45 is a GREAT deal! I am full up on both so not helping me much but others should be jumping on this. I might pick up a couple DRV8825s just as spare if shipping is low enough.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

Hmm, do I get a sanguinololu and some DRV8825s or a RAMPS and some DRV8825s? I don't have an arduino mega lying around.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

sanguinololu is a step down except for the stepper support. It has less memory and smaller traces. Ramps is an improvement all the way around. ATmega2560 knockoffs are cheap and work well. You can get them for <$20 pretty easy.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

going for an Arduino Mega from amazon for $20 (yay amazon!), a new 12v 30A power supply, some DRV8825s, and a RAMPS, all for under $100. Not a bad deal considering all I want to do is get 1/32 stepping for the extruder.

The nice thing is I'll now have a spare printrboard to run the steppers on the laser I'm putting together!

Re: DRV8825 on sale

I've been thinking of putting together the Delta that RichRap posted, which is largely printed.   The sale would cover the electronics for that pretty well.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

whats the difference between the DRV8825 and the A4988 driver?

Biggest one for me is that the A4988 can only do up to 1/16 microstepping and the DRV8825 can do 1/32.

Re: DRV8825 on sale

would an arduino uno work or only the mega?

Re: DRV8825 on sale

the RAMPs is made to slap right on top of the arduino mega. You might be able to use an uno, but the form factor is different so a lot of input outputs would have to be changed. Not even sure if you can, honestly. For the price, I'd get a Mega. I have a couple unos poking around, but for $20 getting a mega was worth it to me.

So you posted a link to the DRV8825 boards for $12.50 each when the main post was about buying them on sale for $6 each. Am I missing something?
