Topic: How many hours a week do you spend?

The first two weeks I probably spent 2 hours a night, and 4 hours a day on the weekend messing with it.  Now I'm down to 2 hours total for weekdays, and 2-3 hours over the weekend.  Wish I had more time but that's all I can give at this point due to having 3yr old and 7 month old at home.

How bout you guys?

I have a printer at my side at all times, even when I'm replying to that flavor of e-mail.

3D printing happens to one of the few hobbies where you can make a cake cutter - and eat cake at the same time.

Re: How many hours a week do you spend?

I spend something like 3-4 hours a night designing, printing or both.  As for weekends, all bets are off--usually all spare time is committed to designing and printing.  I burned through my first roll of filament in just under 3 weeks and making a pretty solid dent in my second roll.  I keep expecting this to taper off, but the obsession just keeps growing.

I have to keep up appearances on the weekend of being responsible.  I try to duck in a few minutes at a time to start, check, finish prints without seeming to be in there all day.  Make sure I am seen doing dishes, Laundry, etc in between printing.

Re: How many hours a week do you spend?

I have found the problem isn't so much that I spend too much time at the printer since I can get productive work done in my office while printing...  Easily 50-60 hours a week... The problem is I'm obsessed with checking into soliforum, soliwiki, google group, rep rap, and the like. I desperately need to get a job so I don't turn into one of this mmorpg guys with Cheetos stuck in their hair and gaining 50 lbs a month while covered with greasy zits. smile

Don't forget about little bits of plastic extrusion and scrapings mixed in with the Doritos.

I swear I do everything I can to clean up after myself and my future wife doesn't believe me. I think those strands of plastic that ooze out when you heat up and pull off with the tweezers... They have wings and fly out across the house and land on our new couches, next to the coffee pot, and on our comforter.

My kids are always rooting through the failed print can to find interesting shapes to wander off with, trailing plastic spaghetti with them.
