Topic: Assembly questions

Hi,
i`ve finished my build now and it worked for some minutes, it extruded nicely but i have 2 questions.
Where should the thermocouple be placed ? Should i measure the nozzle or is it ok to place it between the heater and the barrel ? That`s where i placed it now.

The other question: How should the connection between the motor and the auger-adapter be ? I`ve tried it with a washer like it`s said in the build instructions but honestly that isn`t a good solution. I had to fold the washer to get it in the adapter and press it with force in and then that was no solid connection. And now after about 15min of extruding the motor simply destroyed the washer and now the motor turns empty. My idea was now to place a small metal triangle between the motor and the auger-adapter. How did others of you solve this problem ?

Re: Assembly questions

The thermocouple should be put in the hole in the nozzle, just like it says in the instructions.

I have no idea why you folded the washer, that is incorrect. The purpose of the washer is to act as a mechanical fuse. I have run a Filastruder over 400 hours without issue using it. If you would like, you can replace it with a 3/32" dowel pin, but you will lose the mechanical fuse protection.

Re: Assembly questions

Speaking of which, if I were to add an electrical fuse, how many amps is stall current?

I don't remember exactly off the top of my head and my DMM's battery is dead, but if you can measure the resistance of the winding with the motor not connected to anything, then:

I=V/R -> stall current is 12 divided by winding resistance.
