Topic: My first non-trivial parametric design

A customizable iPhone 5 car holder:

It's been well-tested and gone through a few iterations (aka. I seriously procrastinated posting it smile ).

This is a print where the enclosure helped enormously with warping, btw!

Nicely done, I wouldn't be willing to give up my air vents, I'm an A/C junkie.

what a great idea for keeping your iphone from overheating!  smile

big_smile In the summer maybe, winter, not so sure...

As for A/C, also a junkie, not too bad. Just cools your hand too much sometimes (I drive stick and have the common bad habit of resting palm there..). I've had this setup for almost 3 yrs with a generic holder and various phones.

Re: My first non-trivial parametric design

I backed a indiegogo or something project that uses the CD player as the mounting hole, and it has a universal mount for the phones.  I always forget which projects I back and it's like a surprise when I get the shipment. haha   It's been delayed a couple times but I'm anxious to get it.

Re: My first non-trivial parametric design

Hm, not a bad idea (although I still occasionally use that slot). Perhaps I can make just a clip for alternate mounting..

Edit: how does it jam in the slot? I guess I'll have to try and see if it triggers the changer loading mechanism or not...

+1 XD

No trees were harmed in the creation of this email, though some electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

It's currently in the CD player in my car for stress-testing.  Seems ok so far.  Nice thing is that the main case does not need re-printing, you can easily try both mounting options and decide (I still prefer the vent mount smile.

Pretty cool design.  If I may suggest, you should round the corners at the same radius as the iPhone.  I believe it would be a much more pleasing appearance.  And unless you need the portion on the left for something you should see about making it smaller.
