Topic: Hello from Minnesota!
Hello!
I am a current ME/EE student with a passion for creating! I have loved using the large zcorp and stratasys machines offered through my university, however I have always had an eye for the smaller more 'modifiable' printers.
Currently I do not own a printer of my own but I am hoping to soon purchase a solidoodle 2 to modify and hack to my hearts content. Although it seems there are not many used ones on the market, slightly used is what I am looking for! Why pay for all new parts when they will just be replaced with my own designs?
I have knowledge of programs such as solidworks, Inventor, sketchup, corelDraw, and also am very comfortable programming in C as well as Objective-C for the mac (I do iOS app development as my hobby!). I have pondered creating a 3D printer from scratch, but it would either need to be mainly laser cut or I would need to pay someone else to print out most parts! Also accuracy and cost was always a main concern when debating the full DIY route.
I hope that I will soon be able to own my own printer, and at which point I can contribute more to the community!
