Topic: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

Again, the manual has no information on how to use the controller. How do I change the temperature I'd like to extrude?

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

The controller comes with a manual. I don't have one in front of me, but if I remember correctly you just tap the <</AT button and then use the arrows, then SET to store it. The Sestos controllers are a little different, but they also come with a manual.

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

Also, in order to autotune your PID, press and hold the SET key until the PV changes to HIAL, then press the SET key multiple times until you see CtrL, then press the down arrow once to set it to 2 instead of 3. Then, hold the SET key until you return to the main temperature readout (Once you get to the EP's (EP1-8), you're close) and you will see that the SV will be blinking between a number and "At". This means that it is autotuning and you should now leave it alone until it stops blinking.

EDIT: This is for the SESTOS PID. I don't know about the other kind.

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

I'm building my Filastruder #229 right now.  I will start the wiring soon and hopefully be ready to test.  I have the MYPIN PID, which I thought was suppose to be the SESTO PID.  Anyway, the manual did not come with the MYPIN PID.  Does anyone have a link to the MYPIN PID manual?

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

elmoret,

Thanks, but I was hoping for an operations manual.  The link you provided looks more like a technical specification page.  I want to make sure I set everything up correctly.

Whoops! Try this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5ffKmk … edit?pli=1

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

Thanks for the link to the manual, that should do the trick.

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

Um, this manual is very engrish. Can someone explain how to autotune the MYPIN? Please and thank you.

Mypin autotuning is covered in my assembly manual. smile

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

Aha, missed it. Saw the part about setting it to 180. Apparently it is in the lessons learned, and much simpler. Thanks Tim.

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

I opened the 3 zips of v1.0 1.1 1.2 and can't find the assembly manual with the PID autotune instructions.
A link to it much appreciated, please!

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

To autotune the PID controller:

For the Mypin, press and hold the AT button until the green AT light illuminated. Should take 5 seconds to get into AT mode, and ~5 minutes to do the autotuning.  Then the AT light will turn off.

For the SESTOS PID, press and hold the SET key until the PV changes to HIAL, then press the SET key multiple times until you see CtrL, then press the down arrow once to set it to 2 instead of 3. Then, hold the SET key until you return to the main temperature readout (Once you get to the EP's (EP1-8), you're close) and you will see that the SV will be blinking between a number and "At". Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

I have the my pin t4a  It does go to auto tune when I press that button however auto tune runs and turns off and the unit is still not very stable.  I have a set point temp of 600 and the unit will shut the heat down at the right time to slowly hit the 600 +/-5 but then when the heat starts to fall it it does not turn the heat back on until the temp goes below 600.  the problem is that by that time the heater is cold and takes several seconds to get back up which means the temp drops to around 570 before it starts to climb again.  I was able to get closer results myself but I have no idea what i am actually doing smile  auto tune set the p value at like 2.24  I changed it to 4.24 and now seem to get temps that hover around a stable 555-558.  Can anyone explain what the p value is and how its effecting the unit?  I have read on line lots but still can't quite get the idea in my head.

Re: How to use the PID Temperature Controller

600 degrees?? Are you using a Filastruder or a flamethrower?

600 Deg?

Are you using that experimental PEEK filament from E3D?
Or, are you trying to make charcoal filament?
