Topic: Just got my printer yesterday -- joining the forum today :)

Hello all,

Just wanted to holler. I (with alarmingly little preparation) was able to print a few small items last night when my printer got in. There was essentially no tweaking done to the printer as-shipped, and I was able to print a .1mm yoda head (scaled half size) with the initial filament in the box. Tons of grease everywhere, but I'm loving everything so far.

I expected to have to calibrate a TON, but my yoda print was successful minus a slight lifting on an edge on the beginning. I didn't expect to be able to print at a .1 resolution so quickly, but I figured I'd give it a shot and if things broke, to run a proper cal afterwards.

I'm going to do a more in depth checkout this weekend when I have some disposable hours -- looking into drop-in fixes (glass bed, etc). Hope to contribute/learn more soon.

Cheers,
DD

Welcome diredesire, I was able to print decently when mine first arrived as well.  However it quickly became apparent that the default settings weren't going to suffice for my needs and have been tweaking ever since.

Good luck and enjoy the fun.

Welcome to the forum diredesire.

I highly recommend the glass bed. It seems the type of hairspray you use in conjunction with it matters. The first brand I used (Salon Secrets I believe) seemed not to help at all. Aqua Net (recommended highly on this forum) Works amazingly. Also make sure you spray a good enough distance away. You want the glass covered with a light film of hairspray. Try for no spots caused by the propellant in the hairspray.

Good luck with your printer and most importantly have fun!
