Topic: ABS in Hot End at night

What is recommended to do after printing on when off at night.
Is it better to let the ABS cool down while in the HotEnd or Remove the ABS and leave the HotEnd empty?

Re: ABS in Hot End at night

I leave it in but I know a couple people take it out. As long as it isn't sitting there baking at temp, I don't see a problem with leaving it in.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Re: ABS in Hot End at night

I leave it or whatever other filament is in the hot end in the hotend... it provides a physical barrier to dust or anything else getting down the barrel and causing potential problems. Much better to have solidified plastic acting as an endcap than an open barrel...
