And we think our .1mm layer height parts take a long time!
We always want better than we have !
i think the implications of this are potentially earth shattering to the integrated circuit R&D sector. imagine being able to print a silicon chip to test a new design, or even to print unique one-off specialty chips for custom applications (robotic prosthetic, etc.)
so exciting to be alive right now!

I hate to be one to rain on the parade slightly, but the difference between printing an Anode and printing an IC is not just worlds apart, but one could say universes apart. The material changes needed to dope things in precisley the right conecntration at the right point is just mind boggling right now... Theres a reason they didn't show "The Worlds first 3D Printed Transistor" (which are the basis for all ICs)
Great progress indeed - but to say this will lead to short-run printed ICs is like saying that since MagLev and SuperConductors exist, HoverBoards must be just around the corner....

hey, theres a chick on youtube that shows how to make transistors and stuff by hand in your own home using silicon wafers bought off ebay. anything is possible at this point. agree that it may be a few decades away, but things will keep getting more and more precise until it becomes possible. its not a matter of if but when.
Heh, you mean jerri elsworth... She's special... Formerly of Valve now doing some wicked AR work.
Don't confuse what Jerri does with whats even remotely 'mainstream'... super smart girl that one.
I maintain my earlier statements and eagerly await my Hoverboard ![]()
