Topic: Hi, My name is Tim and I am addicted to modding!

This is why I think the people here make this the best forum for innovation and mods. If it wasn't for all the great people sharing wonderful ideas I wouldn't have this superb setup. I now have my heavily modified 'doodle running Lawsy's and Adrian's fork of the Marlin FW on my Mega 2560 / Ramps board with fully automated fan controls  through the fan extender for Ramps. I am set up to run at ~150 mm/s and haven't even started my bowden setup yet.

Below is a picture that I like to call "sidecar spaghetti". It may look chaotic but I promise you that every thing has a place and works awesome.

^ note that most cables have been re-terminated or custom made to make connecting or relocating connections to the Ramps easier.

Thanks again everyone who has posted a mod. Keep 'em coming!

Looking good there with the mods! Nice sidecar board too smile

Velcro Waps for the win wink I fiddle with too much to use something like zip-ties smile smile But I do have rolls of the crap as a left over from dark dark days in the past when I spent far too much time in Data Centers smile

BTW... Whats the purple you've been using ? the Octave ?

I have modded the hell out of my machine also.  Just ordered items to make a GT2 and a "mod" of lawsy's linear bearing setup.  About the only stock parts of my machine are the pulleys rods, y-axis carriages and control board.

Yep, It's  Purple ABS. That stuff flows like butter. I don't really care for purple parts but it's hard to argue with results. The pigment is really interesting. It isn't consistent throughout so it makes differing shades of purple.

Luckily, I found a natural that I am using right now that is even better. It might be solidoodle's natural actual. I got it from Tim and he wasn't sure whether it was his or SD.

Let me know how your GT2 upgrade goes. I am getting some over shoot at high speeds. I think I might need to look into some belts with kevlar.

Re: Hi, My name is Tim and I am addicted to modding!

All 'doodles come with Lawys's fork of Marlin. Adrian nailed down what the software changes were that they made in this post here. http://www.soliforum.com/post/26841/#p26841

Adrian's new update adds more functionality. The filament change and filament alarms specifically. A good overview of his latest additions are here. http://www.soliforum.com/topic/2470/bet … t-chg-etc/
