Re: We need a mascot!

How about Ollie Dude'l? I know, it's completely cheesy but it was easy. I got to work from home today which meant I was playing. I came up with this robot thing in openscad. I didn't make arms yet because my head is frying trying to figure out how that will work.

Re: We need a mascot!

How about a mini Solidoodle with its foot on a makerbot.
Because makerbot is  always cutting down Solidoodle.

Probably more to do with Sam Cervantes (Solidoodle CEO) having left Makerbot as their COO to set up Solidoodle wink wink

I haven't had time but I so wanted to replace the body of WALL-E with a Solidoodle.

How about a pile of PLA spaghetti with a pair of googley eyes glued to it? It would represent the struggle of the Solidoodle end user after UPS delivers the beat up box. tongue

No trees were harmed in the creation of this email, though some electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Re: We need a mascot!

I recomend a contest for design of the mascot.  As a side note I like the way the solidoodle looks, perhaps that is due to bad eyesight.....
There are some awesome designers here on the forum....

Re: We need a mascot!

Here's my rough attempt at a mascot.  It's incredibly generic and contrived, but maybe it will be a start to something!

See what you can add to him!  I pulled the Solidoodle's logo color and it seems to be an olive color:

I knocked out a few of them on his "ears" and arms.  Still have a few left though.

I added some beveled edges to the bottom and raised his "legs" by a few mm. I am going to print this in 20 min and 32 seconds. waiting on something to finish

Re: We need a mascot!

Excellent!  I'm thinking that his arms need work, and he might need something to not make him look so generic.  His body is probably good (it's supposed to be a Solidoodle), but the rest of him is just a mashup of Wall-E (wheels) and other generic robot features.

Re: We need a mascot!

Not sure if I can make it, but how about a solidoodle spider?  I have always considered spiders nature's makers and while the 'doodle isn't pretty, it gets the job done!

Re: We need a mascot!

a poodle seriously ?come on guys we can do better than that! what does a dog have anything to do with 3d printing?  Sure it rhymes with doodle, and puppies are cute but its really not appropriate for our needs.

we can do better!

I vote for for a statue of Ian Johnson posed like Prometheus bringing fire to humans.

I would rather see something by YSB.  I'm sure he could make 3D printing sexy.
