Topic: First attempts of printing with the Solidoodle 3
Hi Guys...
Just got my Solidoodle 3 about two weeks ago, and have been working with her to get her up to speed. I think I lucked out setting her up, cause I dod a number of simple quick prints, and they came out smashing for an out of the box solution. ![]()
I did get a glass plate made, and used it with some hairspray, and my first print came out well, just alittle curling on the tip. I thought that was due to my overzealousness to get started and not having the bed heated to 90. I could live with that.
After successfully printing three small items (1-2 1/2 hours each), I tried a bigger print, which was a filament mount for my SD3. (7 hours) Most of it came out fine, but in the last hours, the print moved, and the rest of the print was not aliened correctly. You can see the results in the photo attached.
I thought it might be that the bed was not alighned correctly (I never addressed it on arrival) so tonight I started trying to fine tune the bed, and playing witht the z access screw, I set it up alittle to high, and my hot end jammed against the glass. When I adjusted it, I heard a horrid clicking noise, and realised that the filament was not going threw, and getting jammed cause of the lack of spacing between the glass and the hot end. So I got that adjusted, and started a nice big flat print.
First layer went down OK, but I found that there were sections that seemed to be "bunching up" I added a picture of that to the post, and I am wondering what is causing it? My thought may be that the bed again is not flat, and the hot end is touching the filament thats been laid down. Im not sure, maybe that a guess...
I am also using PLA filiment, and was thinking maybe I had the temperature setting wrong? Cause when I heat up the hot end, I have "leakage" form the tip, the PLA flowing without the extruder running.
Any info or advice is really appreciated. I love my SD 3, and cant wait to get it fine tuned.
