Topic: Solidoodle to Germany

Hello,

is here anybody who has experience in ordering a solidoodle to Germany?

1. What additional costs I have to estimate?
I already found out: 19% Tax (for product and shipping) and 1,7% customs. Is there anyting else?

2. How long is the current timeframe between order and delivery?

3. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) INFO
Center told me to contact  the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for export purposes? Heve they really to be involved? Have you contacted them?

4. How is the post sales support?
Pre sales support doesn't exist. Solidoodle didn't respond to my emails? :-(

5. It's my 1st US-export - so is there anything else I should bear in mind?

Regards, Marc.

Re: Solidoodle to Germany

Have orderd to Sweden and since its also in the EU it should be quite similar.
1.
Sounds about right
2.
Doesn't depend on where you live smile Shipping was about 2 weeks for me.
3.
Nope. Who are they?
4.
This forum is the best place I think. For faulty parts if that happens, contact soliodoodle directly.
5.
Just that you will need an powercable that fits your wall outlet or an adapter, besides that there shouldn't be any problems.

Re: Solidoodle to Germany

I've been doing Import and Export for quite a few years now.  We mainly deal with exports from US of large mining equipment all over the world but occasionaly get into smaller container and LCL shipments.

Basically BIS is....
The mission of the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Export Enforcement is to protect U.S. national security, homeland security, foreign policy, and economic interests through a law enforcement program focused on: sensitive exports to hostile entities or those that engage in onward proliferation; prohibited foreign boycotts; and related public safety laws.  BIS's Export Enforcement (EE) is an elite law enforcement organization recognized for its expertise, professionalism, integrity, and accomplishments.  EE accomplishes its mission through preventative and investigative enforcement activities and then, pursuing appropriate criminal and administrative sanctions against export violators.

For something like the Solidoodle being it's open source it should be declared as NLR (NO LICENSE REQUIRED) so there should be no need to contact BIS or Dept of Commerce.

You can read a little (if you are bored) here http://www.bis.doc.gov/policiesandregulations/index.htm
