Topic: Stupid question

This is probably a stupid question, but I am brand new to 3d printing and would like an answer. Let's say you wanted to print a pedestal. The print went 1 inch up at 1 inch wide, then expanded to 2 inches wide without a taper at a right angle. Is this possible? Thanks.

SD2 w/ Heated bed. Mods: E3D MK5, Lawsy MKV, Glass Bed, printed filament stand

This is possible if you print with 'support' ... support being a removable kind of scaffolding to support the plastic as you print so gravity does not affect it... however in the real world it is usually easier to print the part upside down... if possible smile

There are no stupid questions...

so.. to answer you question, it depends on how much it sticks out...
if it sticks out too much (2mm? someone correct me here... ), you might want to split the model into two parts.  and maybe go a little further and have a connector between these two parts and join the two parts after print.
