Topic: who will be the first to die..

so.. i refine my technic...and this is the result smile

i took the idea from an old roleplaying adventure i've made as a dungeon master.

for the little story.. the 0.2mm printed example was all made with a filament from my filastruder beta 2

Re: who will be the first to die..

Re: who will be the first to die..

Printing it atm smile

Re: who will be the first to die..

Sometimes Thingiverse thinks the file is an HTM file instead of an STL file. When you click on the download link, Thingiverse will display the STL code in a web browser window. You can right click on the download link and choose "Save Target as" then add the .STL at the end of the file name. I had a couple files today that I had to do that with.

Pictured updated with a better one.
I can't get a good photo but this is printed at YSB's .2mm resolution using his config. The model is scaled down to 70%. (I had some worries about height because of my recent upgrade. Waiting on a coupler to fix that issue.)

This was then put into a presto parts finisher. There was no clean up between printing and presto.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Re: who will be the first to die..

Nice. I still need to try finishing a part with acetone.

Re: who will be the first to die..

you are so cruel with my daughter... presto finishing...:D  love this 'ruby finish'... smile ...

the .3 version is nice too..

the 'lack' of small details (ok... even less with acetone finishing) in this model made it a easy subject for any printer.. but it was the goal smile

Re: who will be the first to die..

I am really impressed with how well this prints. I was scared when I saw how small the foot print was. At 70%, the sword looks like it wants to come off the bed before it meets up with the wall. My new camera is coming so I can put up some quality photos of models. The presto didn't seem to take away from the detail but the pictures tell another story.

what layer size do you use ?

17

Re: who will be the first to die..

That's .13 layer height, through a .4 J Head, at 30mm / sec,

18

Re: who will be the first to die..

Leary,

Is that PLA you used?

Re: who will be the first to die..

Finally did a 1:1 print of a model the other night instead of the usual 1:2 ysb. Printed at .15 in ABS Red with M5 rod. No other finishing done:

Re: who will be the first to die..

I didn't like my first attempt at this which was with the slopnut and I wanted to prove that the solidoodle black could be used to print nice things. BUT, I could not get the SD Black to print correctly. It would just flake as everyone always reports. I slowly took my temps up as high as 250C and could not get layer adhesion. I instead went with another black filament that I had laying around that has a tag that says 3DPrinterStuff.com

The results speak for themselves. I know, I need a new photo back drop but nothing else gives me the color calibration that this does. These photos look even more impressive when viewed at full resolution.

Print time: 4H 58M
Layer Height: .15mm
Infill : 10%
Extruded Temp: 235C
Perimeters: 2

Very nice print indeed. What filament is that you have used?
