Topic: hot end tp insulation not holding too good

hi folks
i am having a lot of fun with my solidodle after  fixed the thermstor wires.
i am runnng that thing 4 to 5 hours a day and i dont even have 10% of my prototypes done.  productivty level is acceptable, i have a huge ammunt of work to do. after that, its the cnc machining kicking on. can't wait smile

i am having a small issue wth the hot end right now, the insulation around the thermistor will not hold in place anymore.
i was wondering if i am alone in that situation ?  how did you gus fixed that ?

was thinking either glue or a new shrink srap(thicker, more heavy duty)
i think crazy glue+new shink wrap wll do the job but i wonder how you guys fixed that before i do anything i am not suposd to do.

also, i wondr if my settig is good.
210 degres for the extruder, 95 for the bed.
i could turn down the extruder to 190 or 200 but at 210 it really stick well to the bed, at least for the first couple layers.
first pass at 0.3mm
brimm around part 2mm one layer .3mm
i turned down the filament extrusion to 0.9, orginall set to 0.75(i realised it was making my parts ovesized and the nozzle was draging hard on the parts.

hopefully i dont mess things up too much with the settings smile

thanks

a+

Re: hot end tp insulation not holding too good

Hi Ben, good to hear your getting printing done and having fun!!!. I haven't had any problems with the insulation on my tip getting loose so not sure what to tell you... if you have some heatshrink that is big enough to slip around the tip I would cut a piece and try it to see what happens. running the temp at 210 is a bit hot if your insulation is loose that means the real temp inside the hot end might be getting close to melting the peek. Turning down the extrusion multiplier was good as the tip should not be pushing and digging into the plastic as it prints normally, when it is doing solid fills a little plastic pushing is normal.

I would use Kapton tape to hold it in place.

SD2 - Glass Bed, Fans on PCB and Y motor, Custom enclosure
Slicer - Simplify3D

I had to remove my hot end and I cut the insulation off.  When I put it back together I used Kapton tape to hold it back in place.  It works great.

thanks for the good info.
