Topic: Length of filament per print?

I was looking at slic3r when I noticed my little 4x2x2 thing was going to use 7000mm of filament. Is this normal? Can some of you post the length you get along with dimensions? I have yet to get my printer but I'm preparing.

7 meters is about right.

if you have a program that will compute actual volume of the object, you could convert it to grams of ABS then divide by the weight of 1.75mm filament.

Or just print a few things and see.  I end up with a bunch of extra pieces/cutoffs/scraps/oops when doing a few prints.  I don't count these as part of the part I'm selling.

Re: Length of filament per print?

using slic3r
after slicing slicing it gives the amount needed.
So i put the length into 3D printer calculator (free program)
http://delsyd.com
and you can figure the cost to make the part. and part weight.

I tried to download and it 404's, oh well. I'll shoot them an email.

Does anyone have the .exe that they'd be willing to put it in a .zip and use file dropper or something.

Nice! I wonder what sort of assumptions go into the program.
